Hobé 1887-1995

The Hobé jewelry company began in Paris in 1887 when Jacques, a master jeweler, used precious metals and gems. In the early 1920s, Jacques's son William immigrated to the United States and worked selling theatrical costumes. He eventually began producing costumes and costume jewelry for the Ziegfeld Follies, and in 1927, he opened the American branch of his father's company, Hobé et Cie. The company operated in the United States until around 1995.

Hobé's vintage costume jewelry is known for its variety, and pieces from the 1940s often feature intricate, hand-crafted designs. These designs can include leaves, flowers, bows, baskets, and hearts, and were often made from sterling silver.
