4th of July Jewelry Pop-Up
Patriotic jewelry is usually inspired by a country’s symbols, colors and iconography. In American history, these symbols became popular during the first World War and reached their height during World War II.
Many of the pieces were produced in the shape of patriotic symbols; the flag and the American eagle. Due to the rationing placed on metals during the war, many of the items were made from alternate materials such as wood and plastic.
Rationing of material resulted in clothing with little embellishment so pinning a brooch on a lapel or wearing a locket gave the wearer a little bit of glitz and spirit-lifting during this difficult time in history.
